Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said Canada received no advance notice of the strikes on Iran and played no role in any related operations, stressing Ottawa will not take part in military action and is prioritizing a political, diplomatic track.
Speaking in New Delhi, Anand avoided making a definitive legal assessment on whether the U.S.-Israeli strikes violate international law, despite repeated questions from reporters.
She said she has spent the past two days speaking with counterparts across the Middle East and Gulf states including Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as with her G7 counterparts, urging a peaceful diplomatic solution and a return to talks when possible.
