Lebanese Consulate in Montreal Honours Fady Dagher for National Police Leadership Role

The Lebanese Consulate General in Montreal held a special ceremony to honour Fady Dagher, Director of the Montreal Police Service, following his appointment as President of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and his investiture as a Knight of the Ordre national du Québec, in recognition of his distinguished career and contributions to policing in Quebec.

The event was hosted by Lebanese Consul General Charbel Nohra at the consulate’s headquarters and brought together members of Dagher’s family, Canadian officials, diplomats, religious leaders, representatives of the Lebanese community, and invited guests.

For his part, Dagher thanked the consul general for the initiative and said he was proud of his Lebanese roots and of the Lebanese community in Canada. He also recalled the support he received from the Lebanese consulate during one of the most difficult moments faced by the Montreal police after the death of one of its officers, saying that the consul general’s presence at the memorial service made him feel that Lebanon stood by his side.

Dagher also shared a message from his late father that has stayed with him throughout his life: “Go, live and develop yourself, but never forget the land you came from, and return to it.”

At the end of the ceremony, Consul General Nohra presented Dagher with a commemorative shield bearing the Lebanese cedar, as a symbol of the enduring bond between Lebanese expatriates and their homeland. Guests later joined in cutting a cake specially prepared for the occasion.
