Egypt’s Ambassador Khaled Azmi Presents Credentials in Canada, Highlights Stronger Bilateral Ties

His Excellency Ambassador Khaled Azmi, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Canada, presented his credentials to Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada Louise Arbour during an official ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Azmi conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Governor General and affirmed Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding relations with Canada and expanding bilateral cooperation across a range of fields.
The ceremony was followed by a private meeting between Ambassador Azmi and the Governor General, during which they discussed the historic ties between Egypt and Canada, cooperation on international and regional issues of mutual interest, and the importance of supporting multilateral international relations and the principles of international law.
At the beginning of his posting in Canada, Ambassador Azmi also extended his appreciation to members of the Egyptian community across the country, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and support he received and emphasizing his interest in maintaining close communication and cooperation with Egyptians throughout Canada.
He said he looks forward to working with the community in ways that help safeguard its interests, provide support to its members and build sustainable channels of constructive cooperation between the embassy and Egyptians living across the country.
It is worth noting that His Excellency Ambassador Khaled Azmi, prior to assuming his post in Canada, served as Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs, a role in which he took part in diplomatic consultations and engagements concerning Egypt’s relations with countries across the Americas.
