Egyptian Embassy in Ottawa Outlines Bank Data Update Procedures for Egyptians in Canada

The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Ottawa has announced the procedures for Egyptians in Canada who wish to benefit from Egypt’s “Update Your Data in Egypt” initiative, which allows Egyptians living abroad to update their banking information.
The embassy said the service is available even to customers who have not received a prior request from their bank to update their information.
Applicants must appear in person at the embassy’s consular section and sign the data update request in front of the authorized consular officer. They must also present an original, valid Egyptian identification document, either a national ID card or passport.
The fee for certifying the applicant’s signature on the completed form is C$80, payable in cash or by bank draft made out to Embassy of Egypt in Ottawa.
The embassy clarified that the service is not limited to customers of the National Bank of Egypt or Banque Misr who have been specifically contacted about updating their records. Any eligible Egyptian citizen may use the service in accordance with the announced procedures.
Data update forms are available at the embassy’s consular section and may also be printed in advance using the link provided for the initiative. The embassy recommends colour printing and asks applicants to ensure that all information is clearly legible and that the form is printed double-sided on a single sheet.
Applicants are also advised to review the required documents, instructions, terms and conditions through the official websites of Banque Misr and the National Bank of Egypt before attending their appointment.
The embassy said its role ends after it certifies the applicant’s signature and sends the original data update form to the relevant bank. Any subsequent requirements or follow-up will then take place directly between the customer and the bank.
Who Falls Under the Ottawa Embassy’s Consular Jurisdiction?
The embassy also stressed that Egyptians in Canada should use the diplomatic mission responsible for their area of residence in order to avoid delays in processing.
The consular jurisdiction of the Egyptian Embassy in Ottawa includes:
Ottawa–Gatineau, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories and Yukon.
Residents of areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Egypt in Montreal should submit their documents through that consular mission.
The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Central Bank of Egypt, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Banque Misr and the National Bank of Egypt, with the aim of making it easier for Egyptians living abroad to update their banking records and continue accessing banking services.
