University College London reported findings from a major evidence review that found no clear evidence that menopause hormone therapy increases or decreases the risk of dementia or cognitive decline in postmenopausal women.
The review stressed that decisions around hormone therapy should focus on symptom management and overall quality of life, weighing established benefits and risks for each individual—not using treatment as a strategy to “prevent dementia.”
Experts say the conclusions may ease anxiety fueled by mixed headlines and support more balanced, personalized clinical discussions.
