British Columbia RCMP said nine people, including the shooter, are confirmed dead in the Tumbler Ridge fatal shootings, correcting earlier preliminary information that mistakenly suggested one severely injured victim had died in transit.

Police added that two victims (ages 12 and 19) remain in serious condition after being airlifted to hospital. Investigators recovered two firearms and said determining their origin remains part of the active investigation.

BC RCMP Major Crime has assumed conduct of the investigation, and police say they believe the suspect acted alone with no outstanding suspects at this time. The Province of B.C. has also published support resources for those affected by the tragedy
