Canada has announced $37.7 million in humanitarian assistance for Lebanon, saying the funding is intended to support civilians affected by escalating violence and worsening humanitarian conditions in the country. The package will help provide food, clean water, medical supplies, and shelter through humanitarian partners working on the ground.

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said Canada stands with the people of Lebanon as violence continues to displace families and disrupt essential services. Ottawa also called for an end to hostilities and urged all parties to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law.

The Canadian announcement comes as the United Nations warns that Lebanon’s humanitarian crisis is deepening, with hundreds of thousands displaced and aid networks under growing strain.

Alongside the announcement, the Embassy of Lebanon in Canada issued a message thanking Ottawa for its support for Lebanese civilians, adding a diplomatic dimension to the aid package and underscoring Beirut’s appreciation for Canada’s humanitarian stance.

Canada’s move also comes amid a broader international push to increase emergency aid to Lebanon, following fresh announcements from Europe and other partners in recent days.
