Health Canada issued a recall and public advisory for prescription birth control pills Seasonique and Seasonale due to the possibility that some packages may be missing an entire blister card, which could increase the risk of unintended pregnancy if doses are missed.
Affected products:
Seasonique (DIN 02346176), lots 100073408 and 100077864 (expiry 07/2027).
Seasonale (DIN 02296659), lot 100076607 (expiry 01/2027).
What to do:
Do not stop or skip doses. If your package is missing a blister card or any pills, return it to your pharmacy for a replacement or alternative. If you cannot get to a pharmacy right away, take the next pill in the correct order and speak to your pharmacist as soon as possible. Use a non-hormonal back-up method (such as condoms) if you have concerns or may have missed active pills.
Manufacturer: Teva Canada Limited (toll-free 1-800-268-4129, Option 3).
