Canada’s trade deficit widens sharply in November as exports fall

Official data showed Canada’s merchandise trade deficit widened to C$2.2 billion in November, up from about C$395 million in October, as exports fell more than imports.
Statistics Canada said exports declined 2.8% to C$63.9 billion, while imports edged down 0.1% to C$66.1 billion, pushing the goods balance deeper into deficit for the month.
Reuters reported the export decline was led by a sharp drop in shipments of metals and non-metallic mineral products, including unwrought gold, alongside weaker exports of motor vehicles and parts.
