Canada Weekly Health Roundup: Milk, Drug and Safety Recalls

Canada saw a busy week of health and consumer safety alerts between March 23 and March 27, 2026, with recalls spanning dairy products, prescription medications, birth control pills, medical devices and additional food items. The cluster of warnings put renewed focus on the importance of checking official recall notices, especially for products used regularly at home.

On March 25, several milk products sold under the Farmers, Québon and Natrel brands were recalled over concerns they may contain pieces of glass. Authorities said the products were distributed nationally, with identified distribution in Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Consumers were advised not to consume the affected items and to either throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.

The following day, Health Canada’s March issue of Health Product InfoWatch brought fresh attention to earlier but serious drug safety cases. The bulletin highlighted the recall of two lots of MAR-Amlodipine 5 mg after concerns that some bottles may contain midodrine 2.5 mg tablets instead of the correct medication. Such an error could lead to dangerously high blood pressure, dizziness, fainting and possible organ damage. The same bulletin also drew attention to recalled lots of Seasonique and Seasonale after a complaint involving incomplete packaging, a problem that could increase the risk of unintended pregnancy if doses are missed.

On March 27, additional alerts showed that the wave of recalls was still continuing. They included a recall involving Medline Namic Angiographic Control Syringes because of a technical risk that, in severe cases, could result in death, as well as a food recall involving Katilo Classic Roomy Full Cream due to contamination with non pathogenic E. coli in Ontario and Quebec.

Taken together, the week’s alerts offered a clear reminder that recall notices are not minor housekeeping updates. For many families, they can directly affect daily essentials, ongoing treatments and basic health decisions.
