Canada’s Richest Man Enters Forbes’ $100 Billion Club

Canadian billionaire Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ and the founder of Binance, has entered the $100 billion club on Forbes’ 2026 billionaires list. Forbes estimated his fortune at about $110 billion, placing him 17th in the world and making him the richest Canadian on the ranking.
Forbes described Zhao’s rise as one of the year’s standout wealth stories, saying his fortune reached a new peak and, by its estimates, now places him ahead of Bill Gates in the global rankings.
The ranking, however, quickly drew pushback from Zhao himself. He publicly disputed Forbes’ estimate, arguing that the number was not accurate and did not make sense given the sharp decline in crypto asset prices during 2026.
The development highlights the growing influence of digital-asset wealth in global billionaire rankings and puts renewed attention on Canada’s place in the world’s ultra-rich landscape through one of crypto’s most prominent figures.
