Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to India, Australia, and Japan from February 26 to March 7, 2026, according to a Prime Minister’s Office statement, with the trip framed around diversifying trade, attracting investment, and expanding cooperation on energy, technology, AI, critical minerals, and defence.
In India, the itinerary begins in Mumbai and then New Delhi, where Carney is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government says the agenda includes new partnerships spanning trade, energy, technology and AI, as well as talent, culture, and defence, alongside meetings with business leaders.
In Australia, Carney will visit Sydney and Canberra to meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, with talks expected to cover defence and maritime security, critical minerals, trade, and advanced technologies including AI, and he is also slated to address both Houses of Australia’s Parliament.
In Tokyo, he will meet Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, with the PMO pointing to cooperation on clean energy, advanced manufacturing, critical minerals, and food security, alongside broader security and defence coordination tied to a “free and open Indo Pacific.”
