Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to host Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden in Ottawa from Feb. 7 to 9, 2026, according to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The leaders are expected to discuss strengthening the Canada - Luxembourg partnership across advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, aerospace, space and related technologies, and financial services, with a focus on attracting new investment into Canada and expanding Canadian exports to Luxembourg.

The visit will also address broader global issues, including Russia’s war against Ukraine. As NATO allies, the two sides plan to discuss reinforcing transatlantic security, increasing defence and security investment, and protecting the Alliance’s northern and western flanks.

The release highlights the scale of economic ties: Luxembourg’s foreign direct investment stock in Canada totalled $22.3 billion in 2024, while merchandise trade reached $249.8 million. It also notes Luxembourg’s position as Europe’s largest investment-fund centre and the world’s second largest, managing more than $11.5 trillion in assets, and points to the opening of Luxembourg’s embassy in Ottawa in 2025.
