From the Heart: Not every exhaustion is age

Some kinds of exhaustion do not appear in blood tests, do not fade after sleep, and cannot be explained by age alone. They begin in the soul before they reach the body, leaving a person looking fine on the outside while feeling deeply drained within.

Many women grow so used to this fatigue that they begin to see it as normal. They tell themselves it is age, or simply the way life is for women. But age is not always the reason. Sometimes we are simply carrying more than we can bear.

We carry the weight of home, children, illness, bills, distance, and other people’s expectations. We also carry unspoken emotions, old fears, and a quiet exhaustion no one sees. Over time, constant endurance starts to feel like duty, and rest starts to feel like guilt.

The deeper problem is that many women were raised to believe that strength means endless تحمل. That a good woman gives, stays quiet, keeps going, and puts herself last. This is where the real injustice begins. A woman, no matter how strong she is, still has limits. She has the right to say: this is too much for me.

Sometimes what we need is not a grand solution, but a truthful sentence: you are not weak, you are tired. You are not failing, you are carrying too much. The answer is not always more medicine, more vitamins, or more sleep. Sometimes it is less burden, more support, and the courage to stop pretending to be strong all the time.

Rest is not laziness. Tears are not weakness. Admitting exhaustion is not defeat. It may be the beginning of survival. With age, wisdom is not always about enduring more, but about understanding ourselves better, knowing when to continue, when to pause, and when to ask life and the people around us to be gentler with us.

From the heart, I say this:

Be gentle with yourself.

You are not required to be strong all the time, and you are not meant to carry the whole world alone. You have already tried, endured, and given so much. Now it is time to offer some of that same kindness to yourself.
