Gold surged to a fresh record above $4,700 an ounce as investors sought safe-haven assets amid rising geopolitical and trade tensions and a broader risk-off mood in global markets.
Reuters reported spot gold reached a record around $4,737/oz before trading near $4,727/oz, while U.S. February gold futures climbed above $4,730/oz.
The rally was linked to escalating tariff fears involving the United States and parts of Europe, alongside expectations of lower U.S. interest rates, Reuters said.
Silver also pushed to fresh records near $95/oz, according to Reuters, as investors watched currency moves, U.S. yields and further political developments
