Greater Montréal strengthened its position as one of Canada’s leading investment hubs after Montréal International reported that 54 foreign investment projects worth $2.628 billion were secured in 2025. The projects helped create or maintain 3,720 jobs, with an average annual salary of $114,000, despite a backdrop of global economic uncertainty and intense competition for high-value investment.

The story gained additional momentum after the federal government announced on March 30, 2026, that it would provide $7 million to Montréal International to help the organization attract, welcome, and guide more international investment into the Greater Montréal area. Ottawa said the support will target strategic sectors including defence and aerospace, life sciences, clean technology, information technology, and artificial intelligence.

The 2025 results also showed that more than three-quarters of the supported investment value came from expansions by foreign subsidiaries already established in Greater Montréal, signalling continued confidence in the region’s business environment. These investments are expected to generate about $154 million in tax revenue for Quebec, $115 million for Canada, and $39 million in property-related revenues for the metropolitan community. Aerospace stood out with more than $600 million in investments, alongside strong activity in renewable energy, decarbonization, AI, information technology, and video games.
