The National Council on Canada-Arab Relations (NCCAR) called on the federal government to urgently support diplomatic de-escalation through the United Nations and other international forums, warning that further military action could widen the conflict and put civilians at greater risk.
In a statement dated February 28, 2026, NCCAR said it was alarmed by the latest escalation following strikes on Iran and the resulting regional tensions, arguing the trajectory threatens international peace and security.
The organization urged Canada to set aside domestic political divisions and prioritize peaceful solutions grounded in international law, with civilian protection central to any response.
NCCAR cited UN Secretary-General António Guterres’s call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to negotiations, alongside his warning that the use of force undermines international peace and security.
