Bonjour-santé in Quebec has launched “BonsAi,” a chat-based AI assistant designed to help patients describe symptoms, receive guidance on the most appropriate type of care, and reduce overreliance on online self-diagnosis.
According to Bonjour-santé, BonsAi can analyze symptoms, present possible pathways with estimated likelihood, recommend the right care option (family doctor, pharmacist, nurse practitioner, telehealth, or other services), and help users find and confirm appointments.
Bonjour-santé says the tool is rolling out gradually and is monitored by its nurses to help detect urgent cases and keep recommendations reliable. The company also states that personal data is not used to train the AI without consent and is not sold.
Local media coverage has described BonsAi as a hybrid between conversational AI and the kind of triage-style guidance people associate with Quebec’s 811 service, including advice to stay home for self-care or go to emergency when warranted.
