Official figures show that hundreds of members and employees of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were the subject of misconduct allegations in 2024 under the force’s internal conduct framework, an administrative process tied to its code of conduct and not necessarily criminal charges before the courts.

The data indicate that about 443 misconduct allegations were opened in 2024, involving 408 individuals across ranks. The figures were described as broadly consistent with pre-pandemic levels after a temporary decline from 2021 to 2023.

In outcomes, the figures show that 5% of cases ended in results that included dismissal or a “directed resignation,” while 10 additional cases led to demotions following internal reviews, reflecting a noticeable rise in the most severe disciplinary measures compared with the prior year.

The report’s breakdown of allegations includes matters such as inappropriate social media activity, sexual misconduct, criminal behaviour, and conduct described under “respect and courtesy,” while use-of-force allegations represented a smaller share.

The RCMP published a summary of its 2024 conduct-process management report on January 21, 2026, pointing to a tougher disciplinary posture, including an updated conduct measures guide and a “presumptive dismissal” approach for serious sexual misconduct.
