Deadline Nears for Canadians Seeking Compensation in Rexulti Settlement

Eligible Canadians who say they developed compulsive behaviours after taking the prescription drug Rexulti have only a few days left to submit claims under a nationwide class-action settlement valued at C$4.75 million.
The deadline for completed claim forms is Monday, July 27, 2026. Applications must be received by the settlement administrator or postmarked no later than that date. Anyone who misses the deadline may lose the right to receive compensation from the settlement.
The class action covers people in Canada who were prescribed and took brand-name Rexulti between February 16, 2017, and August 23, 2025, and later experienced compulsive behaviours or impulse-control problems.
The behaviours identified in the settlement documents include compulsive gambling, excessive sexual activity, binge eating, uncontrolled shopping and compulsive spending.
Quebec Superior Court approved the national settlement on November 12, 2025, finding it fair and reasonable for class members. The settlement does not represent an admission of wrongdoing or liability by the defendant companies, which continued to deny the allegations.
Of the total C$4.75-million settlement, approximately C$2.85 million has been allocated to approved claims and certain participating parties. Separate amounts are also reserved for economic losses, family claims, legal fees, notice expenses and settlement administration.
Taking Rexulti does not automatically qualify someone for compensation. Each application will be reviewed by the court-appointed claims administrator, which will determine eligibility and assign the appropriate compensation category based on the documents submitted.
Payments may vary depending on the severity of the alleged psychological harm and the number of valid claims accepted in each category.
Eligible applicants may seek compensation for mild, moderate or severe psychological harm. Some claimants may also qualify for payments connected to gambling losses, lost income, employment disruption, loans or other financial consequences allegedly linked to compulsive behaviour.
Settlement documents indicate that the assessment may consider how long the person took Rexulti, the severity and duration of the behaviour, whether medical or psychological treatment was required and the broader effect on the claimant’s life.
More serious cases may involve bankruptcy, divorce, job loss, criminal proceedings or the refinancing of a home during the period in which the compulsive behaviour occurred.
Applicants must submit a completed and signed claim form, along with pharmacy, prescription or medical records showing that they received brand-name Rexulti.
Documents related only to generic brexpiprazole may not be sufficient because the settlement applies specifically to the medication marketed under the Rexulti brand.
Claimants should also provide available evidence supporting the alleged compulsive behaviour. This may include medical records, counselling reports, bank statements, credit-card records, gambling statements or ATM withdrawals made at casinos.
Additional financial documents may be required when seeking compensation for lost income, gambling losses, borrowing or other economic harm.
Certain relatives—including spouses, children, parents, grandparents and siblings—may also be eligible to participate through the primary claimant’s application, provided they meet the settlement conditions and submit proof of their relationship.
Claims may be submitted electronically or sent by email, mail, courier or fax, according to the settlement administrator’s instructions. Application packages are available in English and French.
The claims process is being administered by MNP Ltd. on behalf of the court. Applicants can contact the administrator at 1-855-653-0027 or [email protected] for information about forms and supporting documents.
