Global markets traded mixed on Tuesday, while a broad global stock index climbed to a record high as U.S. Treasury yields declined and investors leaned further into expectations of easier monetary policy later in the year.
On Wall Street, the Dow logged another record close, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq slipped, pressured by tech and communication-services names. Alphabet fell after announcing a $20 billion bond sale, reviving concerns over heavy AI-related spending across major firms.
Treasury yields moved lower after softer U.S. data, including flat December retail sales, and investors turned cautious ahead of key releases later this week, led by the U.S. jobs report.
The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield fell to about 4.145%, extending a four-session slide and marking the biggest four-day decline since October.
