Toronto police circulate image of wanted vehicle in U.S. consulate shooting

Toronto police circulated an image of a vehicle they say is linked to the suspects in the shooting at the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto, expanding the public search after the early-morning attack on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with no injuries reported.
Police said officers were called at about 5:29 a.m. to reports of gunfire at the consulate building at 361 University Ave. When they arrived, investigators found spent shell casings and signs of damage to the front of the building. Authorities also urged anyone with information or video footage to contact investigators.
According to an official Toronto Police update, two witnesses said two men got out of a white SUV, fired handgun shots at the consulate and fled the scene. Authorities have not announced a confirmed motive, while the Royal Canadian Mounted Police joined the investigation through national security teams.
The release of the vehicle image marks the latest public step in the investigation and could help narrow the search for the suspects and trace their movements. The development also came as Canada tightened protection around U.S. and Israeli diplomatic sites in Toronto and Ottawa after the shooting.
