From iPad to Your Car.. WhatsApp Unveils 4 New Features for Users

WhatsApp has announced four new features designed to extend the messaging service beyond smartphones, allowing users to create accounts on an iPad, communicate more easily while driving, edit PDF files and share music through Status.

The company said the features are already being rolled out, although their availability may vary depending on the device, operating system and account.

The first feature allows users to create a WhatsApp account directly through the iPad application without first setting it up on a smartphone.

Previously, the iPad app primarily allowed people to use the tablet as a linked device connected to an existing WhatsApp account. Users can now register their phone number, complete the account setup and begin using WhatsApp directly from the iPad.

The second update introduces a redesigned WhatsApp experience for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Users can listen and respond to messages, make calls, view their calling history and reach their favourite contacts hands-free through the vehicle’s display. The feature is intended to reduce the need to handle a phone while driving.

The third feature improves the way PDF documents are handled on WhatsApp Web and its desktop applications.

Users can now open PDF files directly inside WhatsApp without downloading them to a separate application. They can also make lightweight edits, including highlighting passages and adding annotations, through tools powered by Adobe Acrobat.

The fourth update allows users to share songs directly from Spotify or Apple Music to their WhatsApp Status.

With a few taps, users can post the music they are currently enjoying, giving their contacts another way to discover their interests and interact with their Status updates.

The new features reflect WhatsApp’s effort to evolve from a mobile-focused messaging application into a broader communication service that works across tablets, vehicles, computers and entertainment platforms.

The updates also show how Meta is attempting to integrate WhatsApp more closely with the applications and devices people already use throughout their daily routines.

WhatsApp confirmed that all four features have entered the rollout stage, but some users may need to update their application or wait until the features reach their accounts.
