Vancouver International Airport (YVR) says access to NEXUS and Global Entry preclearance programs for U.S.-bound flights is currently suspended “until further notice,” warning the change may increase processing times.
In a notice dated Feb. 22, 2026, YVR linked the disruption to a partial U.S. government shutdown and urged travellers flying to the U.S. from YVR to allow extra time to complete U.S. preclearance procedures.
Canadian media reports said multiple airports posted similar advisories, while Toronto Pearson later confirmed its NEXUS/Global Entry lane reopened on Monday morning, Feb. 23.
The Canadian Press noted NEXUS is operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported DHS suspended Global Entry for the duration of the shutdown.
