President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday he has appointed Canada’s Chrystia Freeland as an adviser on economic development, a move aimed at reinforcing Ukraine’s economic strategy as it seeks investment and longer-term recovery while the war continues.
Zelenskyy highlighted Freeland’s experience in attracting investment, describing it as important for Ukraine’s internal resilience and rebuilding priorities.
Freeland, who has Ukrainian heritage, served as Canada’s deputy prime minister from 2019 to 2024 and remains an active member of the Canadian parliament, according to Reuters.
