Canada eases study permit paperwork for joint program students

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued updated processing guidance introducing a key facilitation for international students enrolled in joint programs.
Under the updated instructions, joint program applicants now need only one provincial or territorial attestation letter (PAL/TAL) for their study permit application, even if the program involves multiple designated learning institutions (DLIs) and/or spans more than one province or territory.
Federal guidance also clarifies that the letter of acceptance (LOA) should be issued by the credentialing DLI, and the PAL/TAL should come from the province or territory of that credentialing institution.
