Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population says its presidential public-health programme now includes 16 initiatives providing free screening, early detection and treatment across different age groups, with more than 289.3 million medical services delivered since the launch of the “100 million Healthy Lives” campaign in 2018.
The programmes cover chronic diseases and kidney conditions, women’s health, newborn screening, hearing impairment, genetic diseases, schoolchildren’s health, elderly care and early cancer detection.
More than 60 million people have been screened for hepatitis C and non-communicable diseases, while primary-school health screenings have exceeded 71.8 million and the Women’s Health Support Initiative has recorded more than 72.1 million visits.
The practical value for families is access to free screening and treatment before illnesses become more serious and costly.
