Google has launched new back-to-school offers giving eligible college students 12 months of free access to selected AI plans, alongside new Gemini study tools for research, exam preparation and organization. Canadian students, however, are excluded from the new free-plan offer.

Eligible U.S. college students can receive Google AI Pro free for one year. The plan, normally priced at US$19.99 per month, includes higher Gemini usage limits, access to Gemini Spark, Gemini integration in apps including Gmail and Google Docs, and 5 TB of storage.

In more than 140 markets outside the United States, eligible college students can receive Google AI Plus for one year at no cost, with access to Gemini Omni, increased Gemini usage limits and 400 GB of storage. Canada is among the countries excluded from the current free offer.

Google is also introducing a dedicated student hub in Gemini where users can create study notebooks, flashcards, practice quizzes and personalized learning plans. New features include Deep Research through Gemini Live and interactive learning tools in Google Search.

Eligible students in participating markets have until December 31, 2026 to claim the offer and must verify their student status through SheerID using a personal Google account. The plans become paid subscriptions after the free period unless cancelled.
