Health Canada is warning consumers not to buy or use several unauthorized drugs and health products seized from Rabais 4Saisons Inc., located at 5321 rue de Charleroi in Montreal, saying the products may pose serious health risks.

The seized products include an emergency contraceptive called After-D, as well as antibiotics, antiparasitic drugs and erectile dysfunction products, including Erix and Black Horse Vital Honey.

Several products are labelled as containing prescription drugs such as amoxicillin, ampicillin, tetracycline and sildenafil. Health Canada also said a product with packaging similar to the seized Black Horse Vital Honey had previously been tested and found to contain sildenafil.

Unauthorized health products have not been assessed by Health Canada for safety, effectiveness or quality and may contain incorrect amounts of active ingredients or undeclared substances that can interact with medicines or foods. Several of the seized products also did not carry the English and French labelling required in Canada.

Health Canada is advising people not to use unauthorized health products and to consult a physician, nurse practitioner or pharmacist if they have used one of the products and have health concerns. Consumers can also look for an eight-digit DIN, or an NPN or DIN-HM, to help verify whether a health product is authorized in Canada.
