In a major legal development in one of Canada’s most internationally significant criminal cases, lawyer Matthew Gourlay said Kenneth Law is expected to plead guilty to 14 counts of counselling or aiding suicide, while prosecutors move to withdraw 14 murder charges.

The case centers on allegations that Law sold sodium nitrite online and shipped more than 1,200 packages to people in over 40 countries, drawing broad international attention and related investigations in multiple jurisdictions.

Law is scheduled to appear virtually before a Newmarket, Ontario court on Monday, April 20, 2026, for further scheduling, while the formal guilty plea and sentencing are expected to take place later. He has been in custody since May 2023.

The move marks a critical turning point in the case, shifting it away from a murder trial and toward a plea on aiding-suicide charges in a file that has drawn attention for its cross-border reach and legal sensitivity.
