Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) recorded a record 42 cm of snow as of 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, marking the highest single-day snowfall ever measured at the station since records began in 1938, according to The Weather Network.

The new mark surpasses the previous record set on Feb. 25, 1965 (39.9 cm). While unofficial reports showed higher totals in parts of downtown Toronto (around 56 cm) and other GTA locations, Pearson’s station total stood at 42 cm in the same update window.

Travel disruptions were expected to linger into Monday morning, including road impacts, flight cancellations and school closures, as bitter cold persists across the region.
