Quebec has officially opened PRISM Nord in Montreal, a 12-bed transitional housing resource aimed at people experiencing homelessness while living with significant mental health challenges.
Officials say the site offers a structured living setting with access to psychiatric care, nursing services and psychosocial support, with referrals coming through the health and social services network as well as community organizations.
The province also announced C$500,000 in recurring annual funding starting in the 2026-27 fiscal year, framing it as a measure to keep the service stable over time rather than dependent on short-term cycles.
PRISM Nord is being delivered through a partnership involving CIUSSS du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal, the Old Brewery Mission and L'Espace la Traversée, which provided the premises for the new resource.
