Rose tea: potential benefits, what the evidence says, and safety notes

As herbal beverages gain popularity, rose tea is often promoted as a caffeine-free option linked to relaxation. Evidence suggests rose petal infusions can contain antioxidant phenolics, with levels varying by cultivar and preparation.
By contrast, rosehip (the fruit) has comparatively stronger clinical support in osteoarthritis research, particularly in standardized powder preparations that showed moderate symptom relief in trials and reviews.
Safety guidance emphasizes moderation, especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding where robust evidence for herbal products is limited. Experts also stress using food-grade edible roses only, since ornamental flowers may carry pesticide residues or other contaminants.
