Health Canada has announced the recall of a Combined Smoke, Combustible Gas & Carbon Monoxide Alarm due to a potential failure to operate, raising an important home-safety concern for consumers in Canada. The recall applies to model HD18-CGS, a device marketed as an alarm for smoke, combustible gas and carbon monoxide.
According to Health Canada, the product does not have a Canadian certification mark. The agency said it is unknown whether the alarm operates in the presence of smoke, which could pose a potential fire hazard if residents are not alerted during an emergency.
The affected model number, HD18-CGS, can be found on the label on the back of the product and on the front of the product packaging. Health Canada said 665 units of the affected product were sold in Canada between December 2025 and April 2026.
Consumers are being told to stop using the recalled product immediately and dispose of it according to municipal hazardous waste guidelines. Health Canada also advised consumers to replace the recalled device with an alarm that bears a recognized Canadian certification mark.
As of June 22, 2026, the company had not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada related to the product. However, the recall remains significant because smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are not ordinary household accessories; they are early-warning devices that can save lives when every second matters.
Health Canada also reminded consumers that recalled products cannot be redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Consumers seeking more information can contact Shenzhen Yundou Network Technology Co., Ltd. by email at [email protected]
