Toronto and several GTA communities faced another round of heavy rain and unsettled weather on Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026, with a risk of thunderstorms and water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas. CityNews reported that Environment Canada had issued a special weather statement for Toronto and communities including Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Caledon, and Hamilton.
Forecasts called for 10 to 20 millimetres of rain, with locally higher amounts possible, especially as the ground was already wet from earlier rainfall. Officials warned that water could collect on roads, in low-lying areas, and on highway ramps, making driving more difficult during busy travel periods.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority also issued a watershed conditions statement, saying the weather system was expected to bring 15 to 25 millimetres of rain to the Greater Toronto Area, with scattered thunderstorms and locally higher amounts possible. The authority urged residents to stay away from rivers, riverbanks, shorelines, and nearby trails because water levels can change quickly and flows may become stronger and more dangerous.
