Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) has signed a commercial robots-as-a-service agreement with Agility Robotics to deploy Digit humanoid robots across its Ontario operations, aiming to support employees in manufacturing, supply chain and logistics.

Industry reports say the initial rollout will remain small-scale, with seven robots slated for the Woodstock assembly plant following a roughly year-long pilot that previously tested three units on site. The robots will handle repetitive internal material-handling tasks such as loading and unloading totes of auto parts within plant workflows, while both companies evaluate additional use cases if results are positive.

Tech coverage notes the Woodstock facility builds Toyota RAV4 SUVs, and frames the move as a practical step toward deploying humanoids for physically taxing, repetitive work, with messaging focused on augmenting workers rather than replacing them.
