Uber Plans to Cut About 3,300 Jobs in Global Restructuring

Uber is preparing to eliminate roughly 10% of its global workforce, affecting about 3,300 employees in what is expected to be the company's biggest round of job cuts since the COVID pandemic.
The move is part of a broader effort to make the company less complicated after years of expansion added more teams and layers of management. Uber says it wants a structure that allows decisions to be made faster.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told employees the reductions are not a judgment on individual performance. Instead, the company is changing how its workforce is organized and where it directs its people and spending.
The restructuring comes as Uber puts more attention and investment into future growth areas, including autonomous vehicles, while competition across the technology driven transportation market continues to intensify.
