Police in Shreveport, Louisiana, said on Sunday, April 19, 2026, that eight children were killed in an early-morning mass shooting that stunned the community and renewed attention on domestic and gun violence in the United States. Authorities said the victims ranged in age from 1 to 14 years old.
Investigators said the shooting unfolded across at least two homes, with 10 people shot in total, including two women who were injured. Police said the incident appears to be tied to a domestic dispute, and that some of the children were related to the suspect.
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle before a police pursuit ended with his death. Officials have not yet announced a final motive, and the investigation remains ongoing in what authorities described as the deadliest U.S. mass shooting in more than two years.
Local officials described the attack as one of the most devastating tragedies in the city’s history, as investigators continued urging the public to come forward with any video or information related to the case.
