Ambassador Ahmed Abdullah Ibrahim Hafez is concluding his mission as Egypt’s ambassador to Canada after being included in Egypt’s latest diplomatic reshuffle, which appointed him as an ambassador at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Egyptian media reports published the reshuffle as part of broader changes affecting Egypt’s diplomatic missions abroad and at home.

Hafez officially began his duties in Ottawa in September 2022 after presenting his credentials to Canada’s Governor General Mary Simon, marking the start of his mission to strengthen Egyptian Canadian relations and expand cooperation between the two countries.

During his tenure in Canada, Ambassador Hafez maintained an active presence with the Egyptian community and took part in cultural, social, and community events. His participation included the annual celebration of the Egyptian Canadian Cultural Association in Ottawa, which marked the association’s 40th anniversary, as well as community occasions with Egyptian Coptic churches in Ottawa.

His meetings with Egyptian Canadians also reflected recognition of the community’s role as a human and cultural bridge between Egypt and Canada. In public and community settings, Hafez expressed pride in the achievements of Egyptian Canadians and supported efforts to strengthen Egypt’s cultural presence across Canada.

His move to the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters opens a new chapter in a diplomatic career shaped by experience, media awareness, and the ability to represent Egypt in sensitive and important files. As he concludes his posting in Ottawa, his tenure remains part of the broader story of Egyptian Canadian relations and the community’s connection to its homeland.

The Egyptian community in Canada extends its appreciation to Ambassador Ahmed Hafez for his service and wishes him continued success in his new role at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
