A 17-year-old has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder after a mother and her two teenage daughters were found dead inside a home in Brockville, eastern Ontario, in a case that has shaken the local community. Police said officers responded to a 911 call at a residence on Cartier Court at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, where they found three people dead inside the home.
Brockville police later identified the victims as a 49-year-old woman and her daughters, aged 15 and 17. The accused, whose name cannot be published under Canada’s youth justice rules, was arrested on the outskirts of the city after investigators received additional information. He is also facing a charge of assaulting a police officer.
Inspector Darryl Boyd said police believe the case is linked to intimate partner violence because the accused was in a relationship with one of the daughters. Police have also said the incident does not appear to have been a random attack, while the investigation remains ongoing.
The case is now before the courts, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Under Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act, publishing information that identifies a young person charged with a crime is generally prohibited, which is why the accused’s name is not being reported.
