Reuters reported on February 11, 2026 that ByteDance is developing an artificial intelligence chip and is in talks with Samsung Electronics over manufacturing arrangements, as major tech firms race to secure advanced compute and reduce reliance on external supply chains.
Sources said the chip is designed mainly for AI inference workloads, with engineering samples expected by late March and an initial plan to produce at least 100,000 units in 2026, potentially scaling later. ByteDance said the report about its in-house chip project was inaccurate, and Samsung declined to comment.
