1, 2026, after issuing a final anti-dumping decision that follows a roughly 17-month investigation. The revised rates are set to remain in place for five years.
Under the final structure, the anti-dumping component falls to 5.9% from a steep provisional level of 75.8% introduced last August, while China’s standard 9% import tariff remains unchanged, bringing the combined duty to 14.9%.
The decision is widely viewed as part of a broader easing in Canada–China trade frictions, with China ranking as Canada’s second-largest canola market in 2024 and with parallel signals of relief on some other Canadian agricultural tariffs.
