Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi received a U.S. response through Qatari mediators in Doha on Tuesday to Iran’s seven-day plan aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran and restoring normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Araqchi is expected to discuss the response in Tehran on Wednesday. According to an official familiar with the talks, negotiations are currently focused on the sequence in which each side would implement the proposed steps.
Iran presented the plan last week as Qatar continues its mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran in an attempt to revive negotiations and reduce tensions surrounding the strategic waterway.
