Costco Canada has issued a member alert for a voluntary recall of Ajinomoto’s frozen Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice, citing a precautionary concern about possible glass contamination.
The company said the affected item is sold under Costco item #819988 in a 6 x 255 g format. Consumers are being asked to use the “best before” date as the main check: the recall covers products marked from 2026-09-09 through 2026-11-12. Costco noted the date can be found on the side of the box or on inner packages in YY MM DD format.
Costco also said its records indicate the product was sold in Canada through Costco warehouses and Costco Business Centres between September 2025 and February 2026. The retailer added that it has not received confirmed reports of injuries linked to consumption so far.
Members are advised not to consume, serve, sell, or distribute the affected product. Costco says the item can be returned to a warehouse for a full refund, and questions can be directed to Ajinomoto Foods North America using the contact information provided in the recall notice.
Separately, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s FSIS announced a recall on February 19, 2026 involving chicken fried rice products due to possible foreign material (glass), and noted a related export connection to Canada.
