13 Works Shortlisted for Arabic Canadian Literature Award

Reham Taima, Director of the Arabic Canadian Book Fair and President of the Arabic Canadian Literature Award, has announced the shortlist for the award’s second edition, 2026/2027, featuring 13 works divided between published and unpublished fiction.
In an official statement issued by the award administration, Taima said submissions closed on September 15, 2026, after 62 entries were received from Arab writers originally from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Sudan and Algeria, who are currently based in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta.
The published works shortlist includes six titles: Seerat Ahl Al-Hay by Osama Zaid, Iraqiya Walakin by Amal Habib, Waheeda Ka Ghorfa Mozdahima by Badr Salem, Ala Sath Thakira by Zahraa Talib Hassan, Laylat Al-Kanaaniya by Salah Shakiro, and Namout Da’iman Mota’akhireen by Lina Reda.
The unpublished works category includes seven titles: Amoudo by Ibtissam Saleh Rahmani, Taa Al-Shahwa Al-Sakita by Suhair Fawazat, Al-Najoun Mo’aqqatan by Diaa Ibrahim, Muaskar Al-Anbiyaa by Abada Kamal Ibrahim, Ahlam Zahrat Al-Orchid by Mahmoud Fara, Khubz Omi by Mona Khalifa, and Al-Mansho Wal-Wawi by Hidaya Saleh Shamoun.
The award administration said the winning work in each category will be announced in early January 2027.
The Arabic Canadian Literature Award is organized by the Arabic Canadian Book Fair.
