Egypt is preparing to launch the Cairo International Book Fair this January, one of the Arab world’s largest and most influential cultural events, bringing together publishers, writers and readers from across the region.

The Cairo International Book Fair is set to open its 57th edition in January 2026 under the theme “Those who stop reading for an hour fall centuries behind,” reaffirming the central role of reading in cultural and intellectual development.

Recognized as one of the largest and longest-running book fairs in the Arab world, the event serves as a major platform for new book releases and a meeting point for publishers, authors, intellectuals and cultural institutions from across the region and beyond.

The fair will feature a wide-ranging cultural program, including literary discussions, intellectual panels, book signings and public events, alongside the announcement of the winners of the Naguib Mahfouz Prize for Arabic Fiction, one of the region’s most prestigious literary awards.

With its strong public turnout year after year, the Cairo International Book Fair has evolved beyond a traditional book market, becoming a hub for cultural dialogue and a reflection of ongoing developments in the Arab publishing industry.
