The Egyptian Cultural Office in Montreal, headed by Dr. Ahmed Gaber, has announced the launch of a children’s art contest titled “Draw Your Country” for Egyptian children living in Canada, under the patronage of the Egyptian Consulate General in Montreal and in cooperation with SPDI.

The contest invites children to create artwork expressing how they imagine and see Egypt through their own eyes, in an initiative designed to strengthen identity and connection to their roots, introduce Egyptian history and culture in a creative way, and encourage free artistic expression.

According to the announcement, the competition is divided into three age groups: 5 to 7, 8 to 11, and 12 to 15. Organizers have also suggested guiding themes for participants, including Egyptian landmarks, daily life, cultural symbols, and emotions associated with the homeland such as pride, joy, and longing.

Participants are required to submit original work created by the child. All drawing materials are allowed. Each entry must include the child’s full name, age, city of residence in Canada, and a short sentence explaining why they chose to draw Egypt.

Entries must be submitted by photographing the artwork clearly and uploading it through the designated form. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2026.

Organizers said the submitted artworks will later be showcased in an exhibition at the Egyptian Cultural Office in Montreal in the presence of office and consular officials, along with public figures. Each participating child will receive a certificate of appreciation and have their work included in the exhibition.
