France has moved to restrict U.S. Ambassador to Paris Charles Kushner’s direct access to French government officials after he failed to attend a formal summons at the Foreign Ministry, called over U.S. remarks tied to the killing of a far-right activist in Lyon, according to diplomatic sources.
French officials objected to public U.S. commentary that framed the incident in terms of rising “violent radical leftism,” arguing it intruded into a domestic debate. Reports said the ministry met a representative after Kushner did not appear in person.
