Hyundai Motor Group said it plans to deploy humanoid robots at its manufacturing site in Georgia starting in 2028, aiming to automate repetitive and higher risk tasks and reduce physical strain on workers.
The company unveiled the production version of the Atlas humanoid robot, developed by Boston Dynamics, during CES 2026 in Las Vegas on Monday, January 5, 2026. Hyundai said it is working toward a production system capable of manufacturing 30,000 robot units per year by 2028.
Hyundai said Atlas will begin with parts sequencing tasks in 2028, expand use as safety and quality are validated, and move into component assembly by 2030, with longer term plans for heavy load and complex operations.
The company did not disclose pricing, framing the push as part of its "physical AI" strategy, combining AI with real world data and autonomous decision making in hardware.
