Iran Launches New Missile Wave at Tel Aviv After New Supreme Leader Takes Office

Iran launched a new wave of missiles toward Tel Aviv and central Israel after Mojtaba Khamenei took over as supreme leader, as exchanges of fire between Iran and Israel continued. The strike came at the start of a new phase in Tehran, with regional attention focused on whether the conflict is heading toward wider escalation.
Field reporting showed fresh impacts in central Israel and renewed air raid sirens as additional missile waves were launched. Iranian media said the barrage involved a “new generation” of missiles, but that claim remains attributed to the Iranian account and has not been fully and independently confirmed in the open Western sources I reviewed.
The overlap between the leadership transition in Iran and the continued missile fire suggests that the confrontation has not entered a clear de-escalation phase, while fears are rising that the conflict could widen further across the region.
